The CuriouslyLocal Corner Stores is an online market which connects locally-produced goods with people who want to buy those goods and have them delivered by mail. The Corner Stores was conceived and is run by me, George Packard. I also run a blog>> http://curiouslylocal.com << which is devoted to telling the stories and discussing the ideas of people who want to help strengthen local communities.
I've lived with my family in Warner, NH since 1979. Warner is a small, rural town of some 3,000 people. Like many small communities, we are increasingly interested in finding ways to strengthen our local economy, ways to make more of what we use locally, from food, to fun, to tools. We like the idea of "resilience;" in other words we like living here, and we know that to continue to live here we need to be ready to change how we do things, and even what we do, from energy use to education and elder-care.
The goods and products offered in the Corner Stores are not just made by people in the Warner area. In fact, we welcome good stuff, made with care and heart, by people from all over. However, we are primarily interested in products which find their first and primary market in the region where they are produced. We're not very interersted in selling products which are not a vital part of the life of their home communities. If you make stuff your neighbors love and like to buy, let us know. And hopefully other folks who live, love and work in their own vibrant local communities, will like what you make as much as your neighbors do, and appreciate the convenience of being able to buy it online.
